In the Mirror of Fate

I’m sitting on a couch that isn’t mine. In front of me, a mirror—and in it, a person I don’t yet truly know. My gaze is broken by movement—a figure dressed entirely in black, her steps accompanied by the sway of a braid. My eyes drift to the ceiling, words flow about a topic that doesn’t matter. I barely listen. My thoughts mingle—about life, about change, about troubles.

I’ve known her for two years. Time we often hardly notice, yet she has become the most important person in my life. Why? Simple—she’s there when I need her. She’s there even when I don’t want her to be, but knows it’s the right thing.

We often wander through alleys of thought for no reason, carrying years of silence only because there’s been no one who truly sees us. Perhaps the answer isn’t in waiting to be understood… but in stepping out of the shadows now and then. And discovering that life can be different—lighter, more beautiful.
